"COIN HEIST" Movie Now Available on Netflix!

COIN HEIST, based on the YA novel by Elisa Ludwig, is now available to stream on Netflix
The last place you'd expect to find a team of criminals is at a prestigious Philadelphia prep school. But on a class trip to the U.S. Mint - which prints a million new coins every 30 minute - an overlooked security flaw becomes far too tempting for a small group of students to ignore.

Untied by dire circumstances, these unlikely allies - the nerd, the slacker, the athlete, and the perfect student - band together to attempt the impossible: rob the U.S. Mint. This diverse crew is forced to confront their true beliefs about each other and themselves as they do the wrong thing for the right reasons.

Elisa Ludwig's COIN HEIST is a fun, suspenseful and compelling thriller, told from the revolving perspectives of four teens, each with their own motive for committing a crime that will change all of their lives - if they can pull it off.

From Print to the Big Screen: The Host

Last month we got Warm Bodies and Beautiful Creatures, this month we get The Host! WOOO!

The film rights to The Host by Stephenie Meyer were actually acquired way back in 2009, but it wasn't until mid-2011/early-2012 that the movie finally started to take form. Better late than never, am I right?

Melanie Stryder/Wanderer will be portrayed by Saoirse Ronan. She has been in some great movies including The Lovely Bones and Hanna. I love her name (though I have no idea how to pronounce it).

Jared Howe and Ian O'Shae will be played by Max Irons and Jake Abel respectively. Irons is probably best known for his role in Red Riding Hood. Abel has been in a bunch of book-based movies: The Lovely Bones, I Am Number Four, and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.

Other actors include Chandler Canterbury as Jamie, Diane Kruger as The Seeker, Boyd Holbrook as Kyle, and Frances Fisher as Maggie.

This is definitely my favorite of Stephenie Meyer's books (it is SO much better than Twilight) and I am so excited for the movie. I am also excited that Andrew Niccol stayed as the director. He has directed some of my favorite movies (In Time & The Truman Show).

I have a great feeling about this one, how about you?

From Print to the Big Screen: Beautiful Creatures

So if you haven't already heard (which is doubtful) another one of our beloved YA books has been turned into a movie.

The rights to Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl were purchased by Alcon Entertainment in 2009 and filming began Spring 2012. It took over 3 years to complete, but it is finally almost here. The movie premieres on Valentine's Day, this Thursday the 14th!

The main character, Ethan Wates, is played by Alden Ehrenreich who apparently got discovered by Steven Spielberg at a batmitzvah. How cool is that?

Alice Englert, a New Zealand born actress, is Lena Duchannes. I believe this is her first major role which is awesome.

The movie also includes Jeremy Irons as Macon, Thomas Mann as Link, Emmy Rossum as Ridley, Viola Davis as Amma and Emma Thompson as Mrs. Lincoln.

I have been a fan of this series since the beginning and can't wait to see it all on the big screen. Even though I'm excited, I'm still apprehensive because we all know how difficult it seems to be to portray any book well when it is being turned into a movie. Unfortunately, things get changed or taken out which leaves many unhappy. I'm going to try not to expect too much from this so that I'm not completely disappointed. It worked for me when I watched The Hunger Games, so hopefully it will this time too.

Who else is excited? Have you gotten your tickets already? And how gorgeous is that movie poster by the way?

From Print to the Big Screen: Warm Bodies

This year seems to be the beginning of a long list of YA books turned movies which is exciting (and maybe a little frightening depending on how you feel about seeing your favorite books on the big screen).

Warm Bodies by Issac Marion is the first one being released this year. The movie premieres this Friday, February 1st.

Nicholas Holt will be starring as R. He is probably most well known for his roles in X-Men: First Class and the British TV series, Skins. Julie will be portrayed by Teresa Palmer from Take Me Home Tonight and I Am Number Four.

Other actors include Dave Franco as Perry, John Malkovich as General Grigio, Analeigh Tipton as Nora, and Rob Corddry as M.

How awesome is this cast? I loved Holt as Tony in Skins and Dave Franco is just great to look at (those Franco genes are to die for). As for Teresa, I don't really know much about her or the character she is portraying, but I'm sure she's great as well.

I actually have not read this yet so I will not be watching it this Friday because I NEED to read the book first. I am definitely looking forward to both reading and watching this though and can't wait!

If you've already read this, what are your thoughts?
