Book Blogger Hop (20)

Book Blogger Hop is a meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer every Friday-Thursday. It's a great opportunity to network and visit other blogs and meet new bloggers.

This weeks question is:
Do others come to you for book recommendations?

I answered:
My friends aren't huge readers so they don't usually ask me for recommendations, but I have had a few come over and borrow some books since I have like a bajillion. My brother used to ask me but his tastes have shifted to non-fiction which I don't tend to read. Other than that, I guess the only people that come to me for recommendations are the people that read my reviews and other blog posts?

Book Blogger Hop (19)

Book Blogger Hop is a meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer every Friday-Thursday. It's a great opportunity to network and visit other blogs and meet new bloggers.

This weeks question is:
"How many posts do you publish per week? And how many of them are reviews?"

I answered:
I try to post on a daily basis. Sometimes I post twice in one day. Other days (mostly Sundays) I might not post at all. I participate in a lot of memes and book tours so those are the majority of my posts, however, I try to post about 1 review a week. I don't have too much free time (I'm in college and working full-time) so I don't have time to write multiple reviews a week because I don't read multiple books a week. I wish I had more time to read because there are so many books on my TBR list!

Book Blogger Hop (18)

Book Blogger Hop is a meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer every Friday-Thursday. It's a great opportunity to network and visit other blogs and meet new bloggers.

This weeks question is:
"Do you pre-schedule your posts?"

I answered:
Oh yes I do; it is currently May 22nd and I am already writing this out lol. I have like 2 months worth of planned posts and start writing/creating them as soon as I have the content. Although I already know what I'm going to be posting on what day, I don't usually have more than a full week actually scheduled. My goal is to post daily so having them scheduled and ready to go helps me achieve this. Plus, with all the homework I have and my work schedule, sometimes I forget or don't have the time so this way I don't have to scramble to post something. I make changes here and there, but for the most part once I've scheduled something I don't really touch it unless I want to move it to a different date.

Book Blogger Hop (17)

Book Blogger Hop is a meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer every Friday-Thursday. It's a great opportunity to network and visit other blogs and meet new bloggers.

This weeks question is:
"Can you read in a room with noise or do you have to have total quiet?"

I answered:
If I am reading a textbook (or something else school related) then I need silence or very low music. Other than that, if I'm really into the book then nothing really bothers me.

Book Blogger Hop (16)

Book Blogger Hop is a meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer every Friday-Thursday. It's a great opportunity to network and visit other blogs and meet new bloggers.

This weeks question is:
"Why would you stop reading a book? Too long, wrong genre, bad language, not what you expected, or something totally different?"

I answered:
I try really, really, really hard to never just stop reading a book because what if it gets good right before I decide to stop? I feel like every book I start deserves to be finished. But there have been a few cases where I just could not continue for multiple reasons:
  • The writing was just plain bad
  • I could not bring myself to like the characters
  • There was a weak/not very interesting plot
  • Reminded me too much of another novel

Book Blogger Hop (15) & Follow Friday (15)

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy-for-Books every Friday-Monday. It's a great opportunity to network and visit other blogs and meet new bloggers.

"Non-book related this week!! Do you have any pets?"
Yes, I have a cat and his name is Niko. He thinks he runs the world or something and can do whatever he wants. But that's okay because I love him to death.

This weeks question:
"In books like the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series the paranormal creature in question "comes out of the closet" and makes itself known to the world. Which mythical creature do you wish would come out of the closet, for real?"
I honestly have no idea. I wouldn't want something scary that's going to kill everyone, but I guess not something boring either. And it'd have to be something semi-human looking so at least it could blend in. I think either vampires or werewolves, maybe even both. That'd be cool.

"What's the longest book you've ever read?"
I'm not sure what the longest book I've ever read is. I think it might possibly be Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead though. That ones almost 600 pages and it's not one of those books where they combine 2 or 3 of the same series in one. I don't think I've read a book longer than that.

This weeks question:
"If you could write yourself a part in a book, what book would it be and what role would you play in that book?"
If I could be in any book or series, I'd pick Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead or the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. Those are probably my two favorite series so it'd be cool to be in them. As for my role, I guess I'd be either a Dhampir, right? In TMI I'd want to be a powerful downworlder like Magnus and Camille, but I'd use my power for good obviously.

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy-for-Books every Friday-Monday. It's a great opportunity to network and visit other blogs and meet new bloggers.

This weeks question is:
"Who is the one author you are dying to meet?"
I would love to meet either Richelle Mead or Cassandra Clare. I adore the Vampire Academy books and the TMI books. If you haven't read either of these series, you really should. They are great and super addicting. Meeting either one would be amazing. I could get all my books signed!

This weeks question:
"The magic book fairy pops out of your cereal box and says "you and your favorite character (from a book of course) can switch places!" Who are you going to switch with?"

I'm going to have to pick Clary from TMI series by Cassandra Clare. I mean, could you imagine being a shadowhunter? It seems like so much fun and such a different and unique world, I think it'd be great to experience for a few days, maybe even weeks. I picked Clary over Isabelle because Clary doesn't fight as much as the others, but she still experiences everything they do. I don't think I could actually fight people, I'm too chicken, lol.

This weeks question is:
"Summer is coming quickly - what 2011 summer release are you most looking forward to?"

I'm not exactly sure when this book comes out, but I think it's sometime over the summer or after.
I loved the first one, liked the second, and can not wait to read this one too.

This weeks question:
"Keeping with the dystopian and apocalypse theme that seems to be running rampant on parajunkee.com, I have one very hard question for you: If you were stocking you bomb shelter, what books would you HAVE to include if you only had space for ten?"

This was an extremely hard question so I just picked books I wouldn't mind reading again.

This weeks question is:
"Since today is April Fool's Day in the USA, what is the best prank you have ever played on someone OR that someone has played on you?"

Honestly, my friends and I aren't really all that into April Fool's Day and it is just another ordinary day for us. I can't think of any pranks that were played on me or that I've played on anyone else. This is a really boring answer, but it's the truth! If you have one, leave a comment about it. I love hearing other peoples stories!

This weeks question:
"What is the book that you really don't want to admit to loving?"

Well...I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I used to be obsessed with the Twilight Saga when I was in middle school. I read them all probably in less than 2 weeks and was in love with them. When I first heard they were going to make a movie I was very excited, but started to get really annoyed at random people who would say "OMG! I love Twilight. Edward is soooooo dreamy!" and when asked how they liked the books, they didn't even know there were books. Then I actually watched the movie (which was horrible) and started to see that the story wasn't even that good. Now I can't stand anything Twilight and I didn't even bother watching the last 2 movies.

This weeks question is:
"If you could physically put yourself into a book or series...which one would it be and why?"

I would want to be in The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare because they are currently my favorite series. I can not wait for the movie to come out!

This weeks question:
"Give us five book related silly facts about you."

1. I love spending my Saturdays at B&N drinking Starbucks and reading for hours.
2. I have read every single book ever assigned to me at school.
3. I read mostly YA books because they are awesome.
4. I have over 100 books at home that need to be read, but I continue buying more because I just love books.
5. My to-read shelf on Goodreads has almost 2,000 books. 0.O

Book Blogger Hop (9) & Follow Friday (9)

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy-for-Books every Friday-Monday. It's a great opportunity to network and visit other blogs and meet new bloggers.

This weeks question is:
"Do you read only one book at a time, or do you have several going at once?"

I usually read 1 book at a time unless I need to read another for my Brit/Lit class. The most I've ever read at the same time was 3, but that was only because 2 were for school and the other I was just reading for fun. I don't like reading too many books at once.

This weeks question:
"How did you come up with your blog name?"

I actually had a really hard time coming up with mine. I knew there had to be something book or genre related in it so I played around with a few names. It didn't take me long to come up with Best of YA which isn't even really original.

This is the best question ever, lol.
- The Summoning (Darkest Powers #1) by Kelley Armstrong
- Gone (Gone #1) by Michael Grant
- Beautiful Americans (Beautiful Americans #1) by Lucy Silag
- City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments #4) by Cassandra Clare
- The Oracle of Dating (The Oracle of Dating #1) by Allison van Diepen

This weeks question:
"Just like Ashley said (love it) "Ashley the girl..." who are You the boy/girl, instead of You the blogger?"

I am Joana the girl. I am a 17 year old junior in high school living in California. I have a huge Portuguese family that is spread out all over the world, but at home it's just my mom, my brother, my cat Niko and I. I basically just go to school everyday, go to work, come home and do homework and, if I have extra free time, I read. I'm obsessed with books (obviously), nail polish (I own too many to count) and James Franco (<3). 'm thinking about becoming a Graphic Designer (we'll see that how goes, lol). That's about it. :)

This weeks question is:
"Tell us about one of your posts from this week and give us a link so we can read it (review or otherwise)!"

I didn't really post anything this week, but here is a link to my latest review, The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa. This is the second book in the fantastic series, Iron Fey. This is a great series and I really recommend it to anyone that enjoys adventure, romance and, obviously, faeries. I am currently reading the third, The Iron Queen, and will have my review for that one as soon as I'm done.

This weeks question:
"What is your favorite romance hero-type? Stereotype wise. Do you like the strong silent type or the brute macho man?"

Honestly, I tend to like the strong silent type. I usually end up rooting for the bad boy in whatever book I'm reading. I don't really know why, but I guess they just appeal to me more. I think every girl has this problem though...
