Who Is She? Skylar is the main character of Confessions of a Virgin Sex Columnist! -- the story is told in her first person narraration. She's a virgin, a sex columnist, and is, well, pretty mmuch totally anxious about the whole thing. Throw in the secret crush on her best friend's brother, who also happens to be her new roommate, and you might understand her frequent heart palpitations :)
Loves: Ollie! No, wait...she used to. She still does? Well, you guys can decide because Skye and I sure can't! Other loves include coffee, desserts, sugary things in general, reading by the windowsill while it rains, cheesy love scenes, and writing of course--especailly when said writing doesn't include fabricating sexual scenarios for her column.
Hates: High heels, hitting on guys, the never-ending embarrassing moments that seem to plague her life, lying in general (yeah, I see the irony here), and, what did I forget? Oh, right. Ollie!
Guilty Pleasures: Reality television binge watching sessions with Bridget, and, um, secretly watching Ollie flex his biceps out of the corner of her eye!
Occupation: Sous-chef at an American Steakhouse...double yum!
Who Is He? Hmm...where to begin? Ollie is our main character Skylar's secret crush, her best friend Bridget's older brother, and their new roommate. Or course, he's also the guy who broke Skylar's heart, but maybe wants to put it back together again...maybe.
Loves: Cooking, giving his sister a hard time, teasing Skye mercilessly, looking too handsome to be real, putting on a good brood when he has to, playing football, and using his piercing turquoise eyes to make any girl around him fall just a little bit in love.
Hates: Any guy his sister is dating, any guy Skye is dating for that matter, the chick-flicks he's forced to endure in his new apartment, the fact that Skye hasn't spoken to him in four years, bicyclists in New York, and overcooking fish, obviously.
Guilty Pleasures: The chick-flicks he's forced to endure in his new apartment...take that secret to your grave!
Name: Bridget McDonough – Bridge to anyone brave enough to attempt it!Occupation: Assistant at an art gallery in SoHo
Who Is She? The main character Skylar’s best friend, roommate, confidant, and all-around savior! She has a take-no-prisoners attitude, will defend the people she loves, but also has a soft spot for a good time! She’s the carefree artist who perfectly balances out Skylar’s neurotic tendencies :)
Loves: Skye, duh! Painting—a close second! The smell of a fresh canvas, the stained overalls hidden with her oil paints, her brother—as annoying as he can be, tossing death stares at anyone who warrants one, dancing until the sun comes up, and generally living life to it’s fullest.
Hates: Her brother’s overprotective gene, the fact that her father won’t reprimand him about it, anytime people she loves are fighting, Skylar’s asshole ex-boyfriend (and a few other people on her list), and, well, when she can’t seem to get the colors of the sky just right. Oh, and string cheese—something about it just seems, wrong…
Guilty Pleasures: Her ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’ Christmas slippers and a good Long Island Iced Tea
Occupation: Investment banker with some money to burn
Who Is He? Someone who wants to burn said money on our main character Skylar! Just because she’s a virgin, doesn’t mean she’s a saint! And Patrick is everything she’s not supposed to date—rich and cocky with all-American good looks, and enough moves to make her question how many times he’s pulled them on other girls before her…
Loves: Sailing, expensive restaurants, grabbing a beer after work with his best friends, generally bro-ing out Upper-East-Side-style, competition, and a good chase.
Hates: Anyone who doesn’t like sailing, girls with no mystery, when the market falls, anytime it rains at the beach, people who can’t seem to let loose and have a good time, and losing—at anything.
Guilty Pleasures: Secretly a momma’s boy…and secretly doesn’t care who knows it.
Name: Blythe Keaton, the one and onlyOccupation: Newspaper assistant, don’t remind her, and Manhattan socialite
Who Is She? The main character Skylar’s coworker who had been working for the Style section long before Skylar started, and according to her, completely deserved a column of her own. So, basically, the coworker from hell. You might recognize the last name—she’s also the sister to Skylar’s boy interest of the moment, Patrick Keaton. Before you ask—yes, Skye is already aware she has issues and needs to stop getting crushes on people’s older brothers…
Loves: All things fashion, attending fall and spring collection previews, picking that perfect gown for a charity gala, her Birkin bag, having minions, and buying a new pair of Christian LouBoutin heels.
Hates: Models, dancers, usurpers of any kind, and women who walk around in hoodies. And B.O., but that’s just common sense.
Guilty Pleasures: Blythe doesn’t really see the point of guilty pleasures—everything she does is fabulous.
