Feature & Follow Friday is a meme hosted by Parajunkiee's View & Alison Can Read. Check out their blogs and the two Featured Bloggers of the week! This is great for finding amazing new blogs to follow and for gaining followers yourself! This weeks question is:
Is there a book you were required to read in high school that you actually loved?
I answered:
First off, I'm so excited to be one of this weeks featured bloggers!! So thanks to Parajunkiee's View for picking me!!
As for this weeks question: I've actually never had issues reading the required books for school. I was usually one of the few people that actually read the entire book instead of Sparknoting most of it; I just hated having to analyze every single word and symbol afterward. I took Brit Lit instead of Am Lit in high school and really liked almost everything we read--especially Pride and Prejudice and Hamlet. In middle school we read The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and The Giver by Lois Lowry and I really enjoyed those as well!
What about you? Leave your answer to this weeks question in the comments below.

The Friday 56 is a meme hosted by Freda's Voice. Basically you flip to page 56 (or 56% in your eReader) of any book and post a sentence or two (more if you want) from that page without being too spoiler-y. This gives us a glimpse into what you are reading or have read, and may even prompt us to add your book to our TBR piles!
My teaser:

My teaser:Neither Piper nor Dirk seemed to have showered. Squeezing in next to Piper, I thought twice about the wisdom of this. With so many people staying here, there was bound to be no hot water left in a hour. Maybe there was none left now. As for showering in the morning--well, we'd planned a dawn start. What would they smell like by the time we reached Roncesvalles tomorrow? Sheep's cheese?Excerpt From: Jacqueline Kolosov. “Along the Way.”

First of all, CONGRATS on being one of the featured blogs this week! WOOT, WOOT!!
ReplyDeleteOf the books you've mentioned, I remember having to read "Pride and Prejudice" and "Hamlet" in high school. At the time, I hated the first, and loved the second. I have since begun to appreciate Austen's classic more, but it's not really one of my favorites. "Hamlet" is another matter entirely; I LOVE this tale! The main character is just WONDERFUL, the language exquisite, and the plot, SUPERB!!
Your teaser is a nice contrast to all the previous seriousness. It's HILARIOUS!! I think it would be a perfect summer read!
Now following you with Bloglovin'. HAPPY FRIDAY!! Hope you have a GREAT weekend!! : )
Congrats for being featured! And nice post too!

Congrats on being a feature this week!
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders was my answer for this week's question. I honestly hated reading the books in school just because they were required and therefor I didn't wanna. Yea I was immature than, lol. However 7th grade we had a English teacher that read the books in class to make sure we read them and that is how I discovered The Outsiders and loved it!
I just recently read The Giver and it was very good. I can see why it's read in schools. Gives you alot to think about.
Well again congrats on being featured and I'm a new follower via GFC & Bloglovin!

Congrats on being featured! Yay!
ReplyDeleteI remember reading The Outsiders as well. Though not a fave read. The rest we didn't read. Despite always loathing every required book forced upon me, I did enjoy reading growing up. I would always try to finish the required book asap so I could get back to my own book! LOL! It wasn't until my senior year that I finally enjoyed one that was forced upon me! First and last one, actually! LOL!
Here's my Follow Friday
Have a GREAT day!

Congrats on being a featured blog! I never liked being assigned or forced to read something. It really affected my grades, because a lot of the books I wouldn't read.

Hopping through. I read The Giver in 8th grade, although not for a school assignment. One of my all time favorites.
